DAGPROGRAMMA IN GLOBE AROMA

We beginnen deze dag om 17u met een gratis workshop.

Jarenlang werd de Oud (muziekinstrument) beschouwd als een Arabisch instrument, maar dankzij migratie tussen het oosten en het westen, heeft de Oud aanzienlijk aan belang gewonnen in de Brusselse muziekscene: zowel de traditionele als de techno scene.

We nodigen Lagrange Points (een Brussels initiatief dat de diversiteit, creativiteit en innovatie van de Arabische cultuur promoot en viert in Brussel, de Arabische wereld en daarbuiten) uit om ons mee te nemen op een trip die het belang van de Oud aantoont.

In de loop van deze dag (17u) leren we in een interactieve workshop hoe een Oud wordt gemaakt. Haydar Nagm Abbood zal een inleiding geven over de stappen van het oud-maken, de onderdelen, en het verschil tussen de Iraakse, Egyptische en Turkse stijlen. Haydar is een professionele oud-maker uit Irak, gevestigd in Brussel.

Tussen 18u tot 20u is het het moment waarop je kan komen genieten van eten dat door koks van onze community wordt klaargemaakt (aan democratische prijzen). Vandaag kookt Abdul Abdeldaer.

s Avonds (20.00 uur) kunt u genieten van de melange van Oud met westerse instrumenten. Samen, de Palestijnse zangeres, musicologe en onderzoeker, Salwa Jaradat, met de Syrische Oud speler Fawwaz Baker, treden op voor een speciaal waar Salwa en Fawaz hun muzikale academische kennis inzetten.

Om 22.00 uur zal Mo Chakhashiro, een Syrische techno muziekproducer, zijn beats laten horen samen met de Palestijnse Calligraffiti & visuele kunstenaar Hamza Abu Ayyash, met een late-night audio-visuele ervaring.

DAY PROGRAM IN GLOBE AROMA

We will begin this day with two free workshops.

For hundreds of years, the Oud (musical instrument) has been considered an Arabic instrument. However, thanks to the last movement between the east and the west, the Oud has gotten substantial attention and importance in the Brussels musical scene: as well as the traditional as techno scene.  

We invite Lagrange Points (a Brussels based initiative that promotes and celebrates the diversity of Arab culture’s creativity and innovation, in Brussels, the Arab world and beyond) to take us on a trip that shows the importance of the Oud.

At 5pm, we learn how an Oud is created in an interactive workshop. You will follow a step by step process of the Oud creation, a journey from the wood selection to the tuning of strings, with Haydar Nagm Abbood. Haydar is a professional oud maker from Iraq based in Brussels, He will be introducing the oud making steps, its parts, and the difference between Iraqi, Egyptian and Turkish styles.

Between 6pm and 8pm is the time when you can come and enjoy food prepared by chefs from our community (at democratic prices). Today Abdul Abdeldaer will be cooking.

In the evening (8 pm) you’ll have the occasion to enjoy the melange of Oud with occidental instruments with, Salwa Jaradat (Palestinian Singer, musicologist, and researcher), featuring Syrian Oud player Fawwaz Baker, for a special performance where Salwa and Fawwaz employ their musical academic knowledge.

At 10pm, Mo Chakhashiro, a Syrian techno music producer, will be be playing his beats accompanied with Palestinian Calligraffiti & visual artist Hamza Abu Ayyash, with a late-night audio-visual experience.
