On March 26, Art For All goes to Meet the author: Max Porter.

Max Porter introduces us to his new book Shy. In his performance, he is supported by none other than Nicolas Rombouts, founder of Dez Mona. Shy is the story of a few remarkable hours in the life of a troubled teenager. He walks into the night and listens to the voices in his head: those of his teachers, his parents, the people he has hurt, the people who are trying to love him. He escapes Last Chance, a home for ‘difficult-to-educate young men’ and his nightly fears, his past and the fraught question of whether he has a future. Shy is a novel about loneliness and losing yourself, and coming to the realisation that you are not alone. Max Porter (1981) made his debut with the international bestseller Sadness is the Thing with Feathers. This book was awarded the European Literature Prize and the International Dylan Thomas Prize, among others. His second novel, Lanny, was nominated for the Booker Prize. In 2021, The Death of Francis Bacon was published. In March 2023, his latest novel will be published: Shy. Porter lives in Bath with his family.

We meet up with the group at Globe Aroma at 3.30pm.
