Christiane Jatahy, born in Rio de Janeiro, is a multi-talented artist with degrees in theatre, journalism, and art and philosophy. In January 2022, she was awarded the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale for her theatrical work. Her 2020 production, “Le présent qui déborde,” filmed in various countries, including Palestine, Lebanon, South Africa, Greece, and the Amazon, blends fiction with real stories of refugee artists. This production, showcased at the Avignon festival, intertwines with Homer’s ‘Odyssey,’ addressing the migration crisis with profound depth. Through cinema and Homer’s timeless story, Jatahy gives voice to refugees worldwide, drawing parallels between ancient Greece and contemporary struggles. The actors, representing characters from the Odyssey, share their realities, creating a powerful narrative that resonates with audiences globally.
