Ali Almir
Syrian artist Ali Almir Mostafa works with media such as drawing, watercolors and clay sculpture. Fascinated by the human, Ali uses it as a subject and tool for his works.
Bodily representations are the main subject of his sculptural work. Bodies in the edge of forming and bodies confined, bodies as tools and bodies as vessels.
Ali Almir represents the complexity of human feelings by creating a theater of limbs and poses: his archetypal creatures show a range of emotions that spans from elegant composure to pride, surrender,to discomfort.
In his recent sculptures he turns human figures into daily-life use objects (cups, vases) or vice versa. The result are creatures ambiguous in their nature, as objects willing to emancipate as bodies in motion, or bodies destined to immobility.
