Artistic & logistical handyperson (m/f/x)

RESPONSIBLE FOR ARTISTIC PRODUCTION, LOGISTICS & TECHNICAL ASPECTS

Globe Aroma is seeking an artistic handyperson, a creative builder, a versatile people’s person, an empathetic architect, a production technician, and a meticulous planner—all embodied in just one person! 👷‍♀️

In a small artistic team of 7 colleagues where everyone is responsible for their own tasks, we are looking for a proactive creative individual. Are you someone who sees potential in things, always present, and willing to work collaboratively? On est là!

Who are we?

Globe Aroma is an artistic workspace and meeting place that provides space, time, and a network for artists, creators, and art enthusiasts. We support individuals who, due to the precarious nature of their citizenship status, often face specific challenges in accessing the arts sector and developing artistic practices.

We operate with a workshop and rehearsal space where around 30 artists work. We organize monthly visits under the name Art for All to large and small art organizations, facilitate meetings with artists, and promote knowledge exchange through masterclasses (e.g., tufting, ceramics, painting) and co-creation projects. In short, there is a lot of creating, experimenting, building, and renovating happening at Globe Aroma.

What will you do?

WORKING WITH THE ARTISTIC COMMUNITY

  • You will collaborate with the artists in our workspace and figure out the best presentation for their work (scenography, decor, installation, etc.).
  • You will find creative solutions to technical questions regarding exhibitions, concerts, performances, etc.
  • You will monitor the production planning of artistic projects (e.g., production of Brussels Gallery Weekend or 3-day festival See is for Story, Tea is for Telling).
  • You will plan collective work and cleaning days with the artistic community.

WORKING WITH THE BUILDING

  • You will repair various defects (leaking boilers, jammed locks, switches, unclogging toilets, etc.) or find the right people to do so.
  • You will build stages, tables, exhibitions, decors, a garden, etc.
  • You will organize logical storage for all materials (from artistic tools to kitchen supplies) and will not hesitate to move items regularly.
  • You will ensure that the spaces remain orderly by developing signage that colleagues and users can understand.
  • You will oversee the planning and management of these spaces and their cleanliness, including occasionally cleaning up after others. (You are not afraid of a toilet or a torn garbage bag.)
  • You will monitor ongoing construction or renovation works.
  • When significant purchases need to be made, you will research the price-quality ratio.

WORKING WITH PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

  • You will manage the schedule of our spaces and know which partner needs which space and when.
  • You will provide technical and logistical support to partners using the co-workspace.
  • You will negotiate agreements with partners regarding room rental or usage.

Who are you?

  • You are not afraid of physical work but can also handle a day of meetings.
  • You have experience in various areas of handiwork: electricity, plumbing, construction (training, work, internship, project; professional experience is not required).
  • You can identify defects or risky situations and think critically to solve problems.
  • You are eager to learn, self-reliant, and willing to take on new challenges.
  • You can empathize with others’ needs and provide accurate responses to their logistical questions.
  • You have patience with people.
  • You have a basic understanding of sound technology.
  • You have a good relationship with the recycling center.
  • You have a driver’s license and can drive a van.
  • You can creatively approach both highly specific tasks and broader projects.
  • You are not hesitant to work evenings or weekends to meet deadlines.
  • You can organize your work and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • You are comfortable working with (larger) groups.
  • You speak fluent French, Dutch, and English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus!

  • A salary according to the scales in PC 329.01 (scale B1c)
  • Year-end bonus
