The House for Collective Imagination

The House for Collective Imagination is a collective design process for the renovation of Globe Aroma’s building. Instead of shaping a “public building” in the classical way with fixed functions, counters, waiting areas, toilets, access gates, and control, we begin by dismantling the norms that usually govern these spaces. Through co-creative processes around specific spaces such as the door, the toilet, the kitchen, or the reception area, Globe Aroma reflect across cultures, bodies, and gender identities on who is in/excluded, what it means to belong to a place, and how this can be shaped through dialogue and relationships with one another.

Who’s Cooking for Whom?

In March 2026, Globe Aroma starts a design exploration for the future kitchen.

The central question during this exploration is what a community kitchen would look like that fosters shared ownership, where people can cook for themselves and host others. How can the design of a kitchen enable shared ownership and transform the guest-host relationship in community spaces?

What if you would be the host for a day?

Once a week, on Thursday during lunchtime, someone (or a small group of people) hosts a meal for people that they want to cook for. By reflecting on how they want to host people and how that changes the space, we imagine together how the space could support different notions of hospitality. It can range from a small private meal for invited friends, located in a separate part of the co-working space, to a meal cooked in the outdoor corridor with a table on the street inviting passers-by to join, and everything in between.
