OPEN CALL – HOSTING AS ARTISTIC PRACTICE
Globe Aroma is looking for a multidisciplinary artist:
a poetic thinker with a practical mind and a social tongue,
someone who can gently spark everyone’s imagination.
From January to June 2026, we invite one artist to share a unique time and space with our artistic community in the heart of Brussels. We are looking for a person whose artistic practice is centered around hosting and hospitality, someone who builds an open and curious space where creation can appear unexpectedly. During these six months, you will work with people who feel the desire to create, but who are not artists themselves!
WHAT THIS ROLE IS ABOUT
It’s an invitation to be present, to create conditions for others to create.
This is not a residency to develop your own project.
As a full-time artist-host, you:
- welcome and accompany visitors in our open studio (Mon–Fri, full time);
- listen, invite, and inspire;
- make artistic processes possible: through materials, gestures, words, or silence;
- focus on process, encounter, and imagination rather than final results.
You will be part of Globe Aroma’s team, working closely with artists, art lovers, and people who are new to Brussels. Together you’ll co-create a space where curiosity, collectivity, and imagination coexist.
ABOUT THE SPACE AND PEOPLE
Often, people knock on the door of Globe Aroma, without appointment, without expectation, sometimes without words, in search of encounters, creation, expression, artistic tools, recognition, community.
The space welcomes people for whom Brussels is new, and for whom thresholds can be high: people navigating migration, language barriers, parenthood, queerness, and/or neurodiversity. As the artist-host, you will work with this community, shaping an ever-changing space full of imagination and care.
At Globe Aroma, many different people come through our doors: artists, art workers, creatives, and art lovers.
Your role will not focus on working with the artists in our workspace, but rather with those who do not yet have an artistic practice of their own.
You will support people who feel the desire to be creative or artistic, but don’t know how or where to begin. People who do not have easy access to the arts and who turn to our low-threshold space in search of a guide, a spark, or a catalyst.
WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for someone who:
- works across disciplines (textile, movement, ceramics, poetry, cooking, etc.);
- blends art, hospitality, care, and community;
- feels comfortable in multilingual settings;
- is familiar with migration (by lived experience or affinity);
- can listen, let go, and stay open to the unexpected;
- prefers process over product;
- enjoys collaborating with people with no artistic training but strong imagination.
We especially welcome applications from artists with migration backgrounds, artists of color, queer, neurodiverse, and non-binary artists.
