\u00ab\u00a0J’\u00e9tais obs\u00e9d\u00e9 par ce totem\u00a0\u00bb, partage Habib, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 son \u0153uvre <\/span>Cultural Destruction <\/span><\/i>– une statue incarnant un totem. Il s’agissait de l’une des sculptures authentiques de ce totem au Moyen-Orient, qui a finalement \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9truite il y a quelques ann\u00e9es par ISIS. Comme il se trouve en dehors du domaine de l’influence occidentale, cet ancien totem est pris dans la lente danse de la d\u00e9composition, de la destruction et de l’existentialisme.<\/span><\/p>\n

La sculpture fait face \u00e0 une boule, suspendue dans le temps et la tension, attendant de se balancer. Chaque fois qu’une pi\u00e8ce de monnaie est d\u00e9pos\u00e9e dans l’installation, la sculpture cin\u00e9tique s’anime ; la balle se balance contre la statue, l’\u00e9rodant petit \u00e0 petit. La lente transformation et la d\u00e9gradation de cette statue refl\u00e8tent une profonde m\u00e9taphore tangible : elle vit le m\u00eame processus que nous, elle s’efface et se dissout, \u00ab tout comme la statue, nous avons une vie limit\u00e9e \u00bb, d\u00e9clare Habib.<\/span><\/p>\n

Comme les \u00eatres humains, cette sculpture est marqu\u00e9e par le temps : chaque coup laisse une cicatrice, entra\u00eenant une exp\u00e9rience diff\u00e9rente, une histoire, une pi\u00e8ce de monnaie, ce qui conduit in\u00e9vitablement \u00e0 son \u00e9rosion. \u00c0 travers elle, nous nous apercevons nous-m\u00eames, elle dispara\u00eet lentement, mais d’une certaine mani\u00e8re, dans cet effacement, elle devient plus puissante. L’installation \u00e9volutive nous rappelle que l’impermanence perdure tranquillement, comme une partie de son existence. Cet acte r\u00e9p\u00e9titif symbolise l’usure de l’existence, refl\u00e9tant l’exp\u00e9rience humaine et nous incitant \u00e0 contempler notre propre parcours et notre mortalit\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

L’apparence de cette statue a pris diff\u00e9rentes formes au cours de sa vie, passant d’un corps \u00e0 un totem, puis \u00e0 une t\u00eate ressemblant \u00e0 celle d’un moine, sans que cela soit intentionnel. Actuellement, cette figure sto\u00efque \u00e0 l’allure m\u00e9ditative semble paisible, comme si elle acceptait gracieusement chaque coup, lorsqu’elle fait partie de l’installation.<\/span><\/p>\n
