“Globe the Aroma” is een communicatie-instrument dat momenteel wordt ontwikkeld door Feruz Teame en Amalia Rodriguez. Ze ontwikkelen deze tool als onderdeel van hun residentie bij Globe Aroma.
Het doel van de tool is om Globe Aroma te helpen bij een beter beheer van onze database en daardoor een betere communicatie te creëren met de grote Globe-community. Door gebruik te maken van open source software is deze tool een kruising tussen experiment, diy, onderzoek en veel testen en leren. Het is een samenwerking tussen Feruz en Amalia en het Globe Aroma-team.
Wie is Feruz Teame?
“Mijn naam is Feruz en ik kom uit Eritrea. Ik woon sinds 2018 in België als vluchteling. Mijn achtergrond is onderzoeker bodemkunde en leraar wiskunde. Ik ben geïnteresseerd in programmeren, dus besloot ik te leren hoe ik websites en tools kon bouwen. Ik volgde enkele coderings-cursussen in Open Design Course Gent en HackYourFuture in Be-Central Brussel. Nu ben ik een junior webontwikkelaar. Momenteel werk ik bij Globe Aroma als MERN stack ontwikkelaar. Ik ben altijd gemotiveerd om nieuwe dingen te leren.

Wie is Amalia Rodriguez?
“Geboren in Mexico-stad, Amalia heeft een achtergrond als actrice en poppenspeler. Na een aantal jaren als performer gewerkt te hebben, heeft haar nieuwsgierigheid naar digitale kunst haar richting technologie gestuurd. Momenteel werkt ze als freelance webontwikkelaar en werkt ze als kunstenaar samen met verschillende artistieke groepen en verenigingen.”

“Globe the Aroma” is a communication tool in the process of being developed as a part of a residency by Feruz & Amalia at Globe Aroma. The aim of this tool is to help Globe Aroma to have a better management of our database and by that to establish a better communication with the community. Using open source software, the work behind this tool is an intersection between experiment, diy, research and a lot of testing and learning. It is a collaboration between Feruz and Amalia and the Globe Aroma team.
Who is Feruz Teame?
“My name is Feruz and I’m from Eritrea. I have lived in Belgium since 2018 as a refugee. My background is soil science researcher and mathematics teacher. I am interested in programming so I decided to learn how to build websites and tools. So I followed some code courses in Open Design Course Gent and HackYourFuture in Be-Central Brussel. Now I am a junior web developer. Currently, I am working in Globe Aroma as MERN stack developer. I am always a motivated person to learn new things.”

Who is Amalia Rodriguez?
“Born in Mexico City, Amalia has a background as an actress and puppeteer. After working for several years as a performer, curiosity in digital arts dragged her into technologies. Currently she works as a freelance web developer and as an artist collaborates with different artistic groups and associations.”
